Tulla Tweed by Louisa Harding
Description
The yarn that knits itself into something special.
Tulla Tweed is a modern fiber blend built for makers who appreciate
the engineering as much as the finished piece. A merino wool and
recycled cotton base self-stripes as you knit, with a tasteful
tweed fleck running throughout — so the personality shows up
stitch by stitch without you doing a thing.
The construction is what makes this yarn genuinely different.
Tulla Tweed uses a chainette build — a very fine base yarn braided
like an I-cord into a hollow casing. That hollow core traps heat,
making your finished piece exceptionally warm while staying
lightweight and resistant to pilling.
A NOTE ON NEEDLE SIZE
Chainette yarns need room to breathe. Use a larger needle than you
would for a traditionally plied yarn at the same gauge — this gives
Tulla Tweed the stretch it needs. Sizing down to match a
traditional yarn will create fabric that's too dense.
Substituting Tulla Tweed into another pattern? Always swatch first
— especially if the original pattern calls for a traditional
worsted spun yarn.
